If Honda engineers can't figure out a way to retroactively fix 2015 models then I feel like they should have negotiated a deal on a new 2018 TLX to your satisfaction, even if that meant selling one to you at 1/2 price (or perhaps, effectively giving you the trade in value that your 2015 would have had, if it had not had those problems with the transmission and vibration). Somehow using a "Sprint Booster" just doesn't seem like the appropriate fix, why can't I just have Acura remove the throttle lag from the car's computer setting (throttle map?) in "Sport" mode. Sport+ gives me enough performance, but, under "normal" driving when I don't use Sport+, I'd like faster throttle response. The only thing I want to change is to program the throttle lag out of the ECU/TCM and somehow gain more low end torque (I don't know if it would be possible to have VTEC kick in at a lower rev in "sport" mode? Or, would the only possible way to get it be adding a turbo charger or super charger (or Nitrous?)). Most of the time it's good, I don't have any vibration issues, and the car feels great. Once in a while my transmission has a little bit of a surge ahead that I don't think is appropriate for a "luxury" car, but, It's only occasional during slow acceleration. I will be persistent because I am in love with my car and getting rid of it is not an option and I am also not going to add 10-15K balance to my loan just to get a 2 year jump on the same car because of something that is their fault.Ĭlick to expand.****, I was hoping to hear good news from you - I'm still hoping to hear a happy ending eventually - I'm glad you're willing to have the patience and the tenacity to get there. Is that too much to ask for? I'll never get annoyed enough to stop going to the dealership and to stop calling Acura. Well if that's the case, I want mine to act like one. If it's not better at all, I'll go back once a month and get documentation each time and will open a case with Acura relations because they claim it's the same transmission. I'm picking it up today in few hours and I have an uneasy feeling that it won't be "fixed". They called me yesterday and told me they did a software update and all is well. I only have 9K miles on my car so it should be similar to the new one but it isn't. The 2018 is sooo smooth between gears, it is instantly downshifting when floored for passing speeds, never jerks, just buttery smooth. I didn't realize that mine is actually not good because I didn't have another one to compare it to. To my overwhelming disappointment, it drove lightning years better than mine. We will update this story with any response we receive from the automaker.I went to the dealership to test drive a 2018 TLX V6 to see how it compares to my 2016 V6 SH-AWD. If nothing else, the open-source nature of Linux could allow fixes to be implemented faster.ĭigital Trends reached out to Toyota for a comment on this matter, but did not hear back in time for publication. Previous versions of Entune were based on the Blackberry QNX platform, but Entune 3.0 is based on the Automotive Grade Linux platform. Unlike many of its rivals, Toyota hasn’t jumped on the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto bandwagon, preferring to build its own smartphone interface without the Apple or Android branding. These reported problems are compounded by the fact that Toyota drivers must use Entune for pretty much everything involving smartphone connectivity. In these reviews, Toyota owners with both versions of the system complained of myriad problems, from slow loading times and dropped connections, to features like remote start simply refusing to work. Since May 2017, it has average 1 out of 5 stars, a rating based on 2,380 reviews. The previous version of Entune, which is available on a wider array of Toyota models, fared even worse in online reviews. Entune 3.0 is also available on the 2018 Sienna minivan, and will be available on the 2019 Avalon sedan and Corolla Hatchback when those models hit showrooms later this year. Toyota began shipping 2018 Camrys equipped with Entune 3.0 to dealerships late last summer. That’s based on 513 reviews, a number that has increased sharply over the last few months. Fitbit Versa 3Īpp store ratings for Entune 3.0 averaged 1.5 out of 5 stars, according to Thinknum.
